I began my door career cleaning up bikers' pubs in Norwich before being exposed by The Times newspaper for a steroid-dealing ring. I moved to London, worked with Rhino from TV's Gladiators before training to be a bodyguard and going to Thailand to work on a Michael Jackson tour. On the doors in Manchester, I encountered some of the most violent gangs in the country, experiences I put to good use working in trouble-spots including Bosnia (where my friend was shot dead next to me), Croatia, Israel, Nigeria and Russia. The true story of Maria who lost her legs when she was five years old, falling between a train and the platform. At fifteen years old she was kidnapped by a group of gypsies and smuggled to Moscow where she was forced to beg. She was forced into a gypsy marriage, repeatedly raped, and eventually fell pregnant. She finally managed to escape to the outskirts of Moscow, where she gave birth to a baby boy. In 2003, my wife and I met Maria and started an appeal to help her. Eventually we raised enough money to provide her with prosthetic legs and to change her life around.
